That's One

I am pleased to say that Finn's first tooth has broken through! Obviously it's not "all the way" in yet, but after a few rough nights, and a LOT of drooling (look closely at his shirt), his bottom left front (hehehe) tooth has made it. I tried to take a picture of it, but it's still pretty small - it's easier to feel than to see - and whenever I tried to get the camera close enough to get a decent shot of it, Finn would try to lick the camera, so I gave up after getting quite a few shots of his tongue.

What amazes me the most about this is how differently all of my boys handled teething, getting progessively worse as we go down the line. Zeke never really showed signs of teething. A little drool and a little snot, but that was all. He would just wake up in the morning with new teeth. And the first 8 or so came in two at a time. It was kind of crazy. Deacon, on the other hand, drooled a bunch and had the runny nose thing. He got a little fussy sometimes, but handled it pretty well on the whole. Now Finn has done the drooling thing, and the runny nose thing, and the chewing on his fingers (and whatever else he can get near his mouth) thing. He also had a night where he would wake up every 20 minutes or so and cry for 3 or 4 minutes, then fall back asleep, only to wake up and cry again. It was awful. Not as awful though, as Wednesday night.

Wednesday night we got home from church after Finn should have already been in bed. So he was overtired and hungry. But he was so tired, and it was the night his tooth broke through, and he was in so much pain that every time he tried to suck on his bottle, he started screaming in pain. I eventually had to get out a medicine dropper, and feed him his bottle that way. It was messy and a long way to go about things, but eventually his belly felt better, which meant he felt better, and off to bed he went without a fuss, only to wake up in the morning with a tooth.

And for anyone, besides me, who might be curious about this, Zeke got his first tooth (well, his first 2 teeth) when he was a little over 8 months old. Deacon got his first tooth when he was 7 months old. Finn was one day away from 6 months old. I can hardly wait to see what this will mean for the rest of Finn's milestones.
