Let the Good Times Roll

A few weeks ago we had our first ever Walter Family Game Time. It was thrilling. Okay, maybe not thrilling, but we did have a lot of fun. We figured Yatzee would be a good place to start because really, who doesn't love throwing little blocks around?

Here's Deacon celebrating the Yatzee
he rolled all by himself:

Here's Zeke sulking halfway through the game.
I think he might have picked that up from
one or two of his aunts.

And the winner is: Deacon!
(Sorry it's a bit blurry)

Since then the Yatzee game pieces have become quite the popular toy in our house. Usually Zeke puts all the dice and yellow chips in the red cup and walks around with them, while Deacon gets the pencils and score sheets and colors his little heart away.

Today they started a new "game" where they threw the dice around the living room. The best part was when Deacon threw one under the table. As he crawled under to get it he noticed that it landed next to the cat. He looked at the die, looked at Peavey and said, "Hey. That's my block Peavey." He then made Zeke go back under the table and take it from the cat, who I'm sure could have cared less about the die. Oh, the fun times we have around here.

What a great idea! I was wondering when we should start real games. Right now our games consist of running and jumping on the couch, playing dominoes (which means banging them together as loud as possible until Mom loses it and puts them away), and airport where everything in the house becomes a plane with the ability to take off. We are so in need of new games to play!

sounds like the boys are ready for Risk. there are two ways to play Risk.

1. The way the game-makers intended.
2. The josh method. Grab dice stand across the room and throw them at each other.

Seems the boys are ready for the later.

hilarious! Is Deacon actually afraid of Peavey or is that a random make-the-brother-do-it moment?

Hey, I don't sulk! I just never liked family game time. Harumph!

Maybe I'd have liked it better if I could have played with those two cuties.

It's only a matter of time before they're ready for Axis & Allies or (God forbid) Diplomacy. Love you guys!!
