We're Going On an Adventure

That's what Josh said yesterday as I walked into the kitchen at 11am to see why Zeke was walking around with a spoonful of peanut butter. He usually only gets those when PBJs are being made, so I was curious as to why Josh gave him one no where near lunch time. As I walked into the kitchen ready to ask one question, I took one look at Josh and instead asked, "Why are you making lunch now?" "Because we won't be home when it gets to be lunch time" he answered. "Oh?" asked I. "And where will be at lunch time if not at home?" "We're going on an adventure."

So, Josh finished making and packing a lunch for us all. I got the boys into their shoes and into the car and off we went on our adventure. Which wound up being a beautiful drive through the Wichita (ahem) mountains and the Wildlife Refuge there. The wildlife was not very abundant, but the beauty of God's creation sure was. Here are a few pictures from our afternoon. The rest will be up on Flickr within a day or two.

The Wichita "Mountains" (sorry, after seeing the Alps, I just can't accept these as real mountains)

A longhorn. We saw a few of these guys and one bison.

The boys doing what they do best - play with dirt.

Deacon standing on the top of Mount Scott.

Climbing all over the rocks on top of Mount Scott.

We really had a great time!

Peantu butter! Big rocks! Tons of dirt! Sounds like you just about blew the boys' minds. I'm glad you had a fun day. :-)
