Meet Faith

Faith is a spider. Faith came inside the other day, much to the boys' delight. Zeke and Deacon stinking LOVE this spider. I'm a little less thrilled about it. I haven't killed it yet because 1) they're really kind of attached to it (hence the spider having a name now) and enjoy looking around the house for it, and 2) Faith likes to stay up on the highest parts of the ceiling, very much out of reach. So, Faith, enjoy it while it lasts. Some day Josh will be back and he'll be tall enough to take. you. down.

What a cute name! We named our daughter....hey, did those boys name that icky spider after my sweet, precious cherub daughter?

Is that a compliment or commentary...?

I wondered if Faith was some kind of deep metaphorical name for a spider who can brave the Alaskan winter and live to see the spring... how fun that your boys named her that and like her so much. :) You're such a good mommy to let them keep her!

Nut sure if you remember this but during the summer in Germany we got a lot of flies. One day there was a huge one and Celeste was devastated. I couldn't catch it, so we named it and called it a pet. From that point forward all flies became "Max" (after the original fly guy). It was equally devastating when Dad had enough of Max. Tip from an older, wiser parent (lol) ...make a point to NOT call all spiders by name otherwise you will end up with a house of spiders or a lot of tears.

Looks like a good educational moment. La arana is spider in Spanish. You could start reading to the boys the book, Charlotte's Web, or get the movie, both are great. You could make edible spiders - made from cookies and string licorie - the cookie is the body and the licorice cut up into six pieces stick out of the cookie making the spider's legs. Just some thoughts from a teacher. Aunt Lorrie
